FORMAL EDUCATION

Opening doors for a brighter future.

About the Formal Education Program

The Iranian American Jewish Federation (IAJF) Formal Education program allows soldiers who were previously unable to attain a high school degree to pursue an educational equivalent while serving their country. Together with IAJF, the official sponsors of the program, FIDF seeks to increase opportunities for these soldiers to reenter civilian life on an even footing with their peers. In 2015, FIDF added the “Bagrut” Matriculation Certificate Course to the IAJF Formal Education program, which prepares soldiers for their high school matriculation exams, a prerequisite for higher education in Israel. Completing these exams is the first step towards building a better life upon release from the military.

“I grew up estranged from my family and left school as a teenager, but I was always determined to realize my dream of serving as a combat soldier. Today, as an IDF commander, I am completing 12 years of education and beginning academic studies as part of my army service. FIDF invested in my education and has an important role in my future success.”
