About the Uniform to University Program

In October 2016, Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, IDF Chief of General Staff, announced a historic initiative to provide tuition assistance to all honorably discharged soldiers who have completed their full mandatory service. This new, exciting initiative holds the potential to have a dramatic impact on Israeli society – expanding educational opportunity to all Israelis who have served their country. FIDF has stepped up to the plate to cover funds for all soldiers from low socioeconomic backgrounds, partnering with the IDF from the outset to turn this initiative from a dream into reality. We seek to elevate soldiers with the greatest need by helping them jumpstart their careers and ultimately end cycles of poverty.
